Course Outline

This one day course has been developed to try and help anyone trying to support a person with learning disabilities who develops dementia. It adopts a person centred approach and provides a framework within which participants think about what they are doing and why.

On completion of the course, participants will have:

– A general understanding of dementia: causes, signs and symptoms

– Awareness of the broad policy context

– Diagnosis and assessment information

– Ability to respond to the changing needs of a person with a learning disability who is developing dementia
