By the end of the course delegates will be able to:-
- Understand the spirit, skills and tasks of Motivational Interviewing and their application in working with children, young people and families, including complex safeguarding contexts.
- Demonstrate a practical understanding of the Cycle of Change and use it to build confidence and guide interventions.
- Guide supportive and productive conversations that help families collaborate on improving outcomes for their children.
- Use MI to address discord and ambivalence, maintaining engagement and supporting change.
- Integrate MI techniques into everyday practice, from assessments to multi‑agency work.
