Makaton Level 2

Overview

To provide a more in-depth understanding to the Makaton Language Programme, and enable learners to develop their Makaton practice.

Who is Makaton Level 2 aimed at?

This course is aimed at anyone who supports children or adults with additional communication needs. However, learners must have completed the Level 1 course within the previous 3 years

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the session learners will: 

• have refreshed all the signs from Stages 1 & 2 of the Core Vocabulary, be able to demonstrate signs and recognise symbols from Stages 3 and 4 of the Core vocabulary, and some of the Additional stage
• be able to describe key research findings that support the use of Makaton  
• be able to state key symbol themes and have practised drawing symbols
• be able to state how they will develop their Makaton practice with people who have additional communication needs.
