Makaton Level 1

Overview

To provide an introduction to the Makaton Language Programme, and enable learners to begin using Makaton to support communication

This course is aimed at anyone who supports children or adults with additional communication needs.

By the end of the session learners will:

be able to state what Makaton is,
be able to demonstrate signs and recognise symbols from Stages 1 and 2 of the Core vocabulary, and some of the Additional stage
be able to describe essential components of using the Makaton Programme
state how they will start to implement Makaton with people who have additional communication needs.
