By the end of this course learners will:
recognise the importance of effective communication in supporting wellbeing
- be able to describe some of the communication barriers experienced by people with learning disabilities,
- be able to describe some simple strategies than can help to overcome such barriers,
- be able to state their legal responsibilities under the Accessible Information Standards, and describe the 5 Good Communication Standards
- explain how to make written communication accessible
be able to use some different types of communication, including intensive interaction, objects of reference, sensory communication and social stories.
