Overview
Direct work needs to be to be embedded in a foundation of safety and security. Being able to do this sensitively and effectively will help the child cope with current uncertainties, develop a clearer sense of identity, and contribute to plans for their future. By the end of the course, delegates will be able to:-
- Effectively apply a range of tools used to ascertain the views and wishes of children
- To demonstrate how Direct Work needs to be focussed and appealing
- To be able to promote how children and young people benefit from a sense of agency and control
- Use practical tools to show what a “good” looks like in terms of engagement with a child and how to engage them in our work
- Apply a range of tools, resources, and exercises that you can undertake with a child/young person to encourage engagement
