The course provides detailed information as to ‘public law’ proceedings affecting children and families. Participants will look at the statutory basis of public law proceedings, legal requirements and the role of the social work team. They will also be provided with information as to the key issues leading to the issue of proceedings, legal planning, pre-proceedings letters, chronologies and witness statements. The course involves a comprehensive analysis of the Public Law Outline. The second day of the course looks at the practicalities of legal proceedings, case management, expert evidence and the roles of those involved, including that of the Children?s Guardian.
