Overview
In this course we will examine the purpose of Governance and Compliance. In project management it is important to recognise that projects are different from business as usual (BAU). For a project to reach a successful outcome it must conform the requirements of the Project Board, the sponsor and comply with the business case and project deliverables.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, we will be able to:
- Identify the different roles involved in the governance of the project including the project boards, the project sponsor, the project manager, stakeholders, and the project team.
- Examine the need for a Project Management Plan and Project Initiation Document.
- Explore the policies that should be followed for the component parts of the plan, including Scope, scheduling and cost monitoring, risk planning and mitigation, quality planning and change management.
- Analyse why it is important to follow compliance procedures and discuss the reporting and monitoring cycles.
In this session we look at sample projects and the methods that are followed to report to the sponsor and project board. Remedial actions that can be used to support risk and change.
