This workshop is for staff who have had at least 6 months experience of working with individuals (adults and young people) who have a Learning Disability
Suitable for Residential Care staff at all levels; Day service support workers of all levels, advocates; social workers; secondary school support staff; probation and secure unit staff, Community nurses, nursing staff (all levels) for inpatient learning disability units, OT’s , Physiotherapists, health facilitation staff,

Learning Outcomes
The course facilitates staff and carers to:
- recognise the underlying reasons for, and implications of communication breakdown with individuals who have a learning disability
- recognise and acknowledge the part they themselves play in communication breakdown with individuals
Following the workshop, participants will
- have the knowledge and skills to begin to make positive and effective changes in the way they communicate with individuals who have a Learning Disability.
- have the knowledge and skills to help them develop more positive and effective individual management plans.
