CONFIDENTIALITY A 1-day on-site course. The Data Protection Act has recently come under scrutiny following the trial of Ian Huntley for the murder of Jessica Chapman and Holly Wells. Although the Bichard enquiry did not recommend that the law be changed, the debate surrounding the case raised a number of issues in relation to recording and sharing information. The aim of this course is to re-visit law, policy and practice in relation to confidentiality, explore the many 'grey' areas and enable you to evaluate/develop your practice. An overview of the day:-
As well as providing a foundation for understanding the law, the course will also be a useful way of ensuring that your practices at work comply with the statutory framework and enable you to develop accordingly. The course will include an element that will bring you right up to date with both recent and proposed legislation and provide you with the opportunity to examine the implications for practice. You will also have the opportunity to examine relevant case law and discuss recent developments. What is unique about the course is that it aims to deal with 'hard' or 'dry' subjects in an entertaining yet informative way. The course is designed to provide an introduction. More advanced courses are available if participants wish to develop their knowledge and understanding further. Max no: 30 (more by special arrangement). *Aspects of this training course may be delivered, if required, to shorter timescales (eg half day, several hours etc). |
