EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION SKILLS IN HEALTHCARE

A 1-day Workshop

The importance of clear communication should never be underestimated. Having excellent communication skills does not happen by accident - your staff need to have their communication styles coached and regularly reviewed.

How patients, customers and colleagues perceive us through our communication skills will have a direct effect on the relationship, leaving them with a positive or negative view of the individual and the Trust/organisation.

Examining initially their individual styles delegates quickly understand how they influence and affect others by their attitude, how they speak and what they write. The course looks at improving confidence and getting the most out of every communication opportunity.

An overview of the day:-

• The course is broken down into sessions each designed to develop a different form of communication skill.
• Practical exercises allow delegates to try out new, and enhance existing, skills in a comfortable environment with meaningful feedback.
• An important part of the course is enjoyment and fun, particularly in the comprehensive session on presentation skills covering preparation, timing and delivery.
• Writing for clarity and understanding, meeting skills and interviewing techniques to gather the information we need are covered in separate sessions complete with their own practical exercise and feedback.

Suitable for: Anyone in healthcare who interacts with the public. Staff who represent their practices/departments. Any member of staff responsible for liaising with other sectors of the NHS or outside agency. Medical students new to a 'working' environment.
