Who should attend?

Anyone working with children and their families including -
Teachers; Education Welfare Officers; Psychologists; Library Staff; Youth and community workers; Family Centre staff; Residential Care workers; Social workers in teams working with adults; Connexions personnel; Elected Members; Child Minders; Housing Officers; Police; Healthcare staff

Aims

To raise awareness of the nature and extent of child abuse
To understand some of the signs and symptoms and outcomes of abuse
To understand more about Family Support and Child Protection Procedures
To explore own role within child protection and safeguarding children
To think about communicating with children and responding to disclosures

Content

Cover the above issues using a variety of teaching methods including didactic presentation, whole group discussion, video and power point presentations, small group discussion and relevant case material.

Time required

The course is a 1-day course but can be delivered in half a day (4 hours)

THE TRAINER

JANET ROSE is a respected child-care professional with over 25 years experience in local authority social services departments. Her background experience includes operational and strategic work, service and systems development and training. Janet Rose is a trained life coach and public speaker, with excellent interpersonal, communication and leadership skills and organisational development expertise. She has delivered Child Protection training to hundreds of Social Services staff and has established a reputation for the delivery of dynamic, highly effective and enjoyable training courses.
