Motivational Interviewing - Facilitating Behaviour Change
A 1-day Workshop. Max Number: 18 (Please note this seminar is also available as a 2-day seminar)
Do you have "heart sink" patients? Do you ever feel frustrated when patients don't seem able to change, even with your support?
Supporting people to change their behaviour is not always an easy task, yet one healthcare practitioners are faced with on a daily basis. This 1 day training aims to offer the participants an opportunity to consider their current consulting style, and introduce a number of behavioural change strategies, including strategies from the world of Motivational Interviewing, that can enhance current practice.
The development of a creative consulting method to changing behaviour can lead to improved outcomes in those individuals who appear to be resistant to change.
The workshop will encompass a mix of theory and practice, with role play demonstrations, and emphasis on participants being given time and supervision to practice skills and techniques.
Motivational Interviewing (MI) emerged from the field of addictions treatment in the 1980's.It's focus over the past decade has however broadened to behaviour change in general, and MI has been applied to many settings including healthcare, where it has been successfully used within brief clinical interventions.
